Frotcom Partners with SupportCY to Launch “Hyperion” Coordination System to Combat Wildfires in Cyprus

In response to the increasing threat of Summer fires in Cyprus, we proudly announce Frotcom’s collaboration with SupportCY to launch the "Hyperion" unified coordination system in cooperation with the Cyprus Fire Service.

As a member of SupportCY, Frotcom Cyprus has provided a Frotcom solution to enhance firefighting efficiency. The system has been crucial to the "Become a Fire Detector" program. Due to the high risk of forest fires in Cyprus, Frotcom Cyprus has taken a crucial step to address this issue.

Unveiled at a press conference on May 31 at the Bank of Cyprus, attended by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, the "Hyperion" coordination system addresses critical firefighting and emergency management needs.

 
The coordination system’s key features include:

• Geolocation tracking of all firefighting vehicles and volunteers
• Two-way communication between drivers and volunteers
• Transmission of instructions for action plans
• Real-time alarms and notifications on vehicles' status
• Emergency communication capabilities

These features collectively ensure a coordinated and efficient response to fire emergencies, significantly enhancing the safety of personnel and vehicles involved in firefighting operations.

Marios Stavrou, Head of Operations of SupportCY stated that the “Hyperion System is one of the most important tools for the proper and effective management of a crisis or disaster incident that we have created together with the excellent partners at Frotcom Cyprus . Simple and functional, but with all the features that make it easy to coordinate our Volunteer units in the field. Continuous improvement and testing until its official presentation very soon”.

The "Become a Fire Detector" Program

From June 1 to September 30, 2024, the "Become a Fire Detector" program aimed to inform the public and organized groups through targeted actions. It raised awareness for immediate citizen response upon spotting smoke or fire by contacting the emergency services at 112 or 1407. The Hyperion system is critical in this program as it facilitates the quick dissemination of information and instructions, thereby boosting its overall effectiveness.

Moreover, the SupportCY Volunteers Corps, equipped with high-level gear and vehicles, patrols high-risk areas on critical days. The volunteers' efforts were coordinated through the Hyperion system, ensuring a unified and proactive approach to wildfire management.

According to Ersi Christodoulidou, Senior Marketing Officer of Frotcom Cyprus, "Our collaboration with SupportCY began during the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and since then, it has grown into a robust partnership aimed at enhancing community support and crisis management. We equipped nine vehicles with our Frotcom intelligent fleet management system, tested them successfully in real emergency conditions, and provided personal tracking devices to support teams. Launching the Hyperion coordination system, supported by Frotcom's advanced technology, significantly advances Cyprus’ fight against summer wildfires. This initiative set a new standard for emergency response and fire management by improving efficiency, safety, and community involvement.
