Qualification and training rules are fundamental to every business with a fleet
In February this year, the European Commission presented a proposal to revise and clarify the qualification and periodic training rules of truck and bus drivers, intended primarily to contribute to higher road safety standards and facilitate the mobility of professional drivers.

This new proposal is expected to have a positive impact on road safety as it includes the protection of vulnerable road users and the optimization of fuel consumption as well as better recognition of training undergone in the other Member States.
The European Parliament and the 28 EU Member States will now examine the proposal in accordance with the EU ordinary legislative procedure.
Analyzing the last statistics published in the Road Statistics Yearbook 2016 by the European Union Road Federation, shouldn’t this proposal be extended to other professional drivers, like taxi drivers and delivery vans?
Different transport vehicles have very different characteristics and may, therefore, require drivers to have specific skills, but when it comes to road safety, qualification and training rules are fundamental to every business with a fleet.
